Project Website
1st step - Concept
The following questions are to be answered at the beginning of each project:
- Who will read your website? (target audience)
- What do you want to achieve with the website? (aim)
- What should be the content of the website?
- Does the website need any additional functions? (ie. guest book, contact form, book events, login for registered users, calendar, ....)
- How do you imagine the design of the website? What do you like? Do you have logos, graphics or pictures that you want integrated into the website?
- What kind of navigation do you prefer?
- How many pages does your website need?
- How often will the website be updated? Who will be responsible for the updates?
2nd step - Design of the website.
Once we have agreed on the scope of the project and the price, I will design the website. I will do the layout and design of the the first page. Based on the scope of the project, I will choose colors and design elements for a website with an individual look. This page will be hosted on my servers for your review. Based on your input on the initial design I will redesign the website until it suits your desired needs and tastes.
The taking of photographs and the creation of graphics are not included in my package. It is the responsibility of the owner of the website procure licensing of graphics and/or pictures if they can't be found as freeware on internet.
3rd step - Programming of the website and adding the content/text
After you have confirmed your satisfaction of the initial design I will continue to work on the website until all required functionalitiy has been included.
The owner of the website is responsible for word content. With your direction I will insert the text you have provided into the website.
4th step - Publishing of the website on the internet
After the successful completion of your website we are now ready to publish it on the WWW.
You will need a domain name and hosting source.
Domain Name
For example: www.yourDomain.com
If you haven't registered a domain name yet, I can help you to do so. Where you register, will depend on your favored TLD (ie.: .ch, .fr, .com, .nl). The costs for the domain name vary from 10 to 60 Euros per year, depending on the TLD.
Webhosting
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients data center. This will do a company that owns webservers. There you will rent space on to publish your website. I work independenty and I am not affiliated with any webhosting companies. If you haven't chosen a webhosting company yet, I will be able to assist you. For example: I often use Cyhost. A less expensive package there is approximately 12 Euros per year.
5th step - Support
The website is up, you have gotten feedback from your customer base and you want to change something. No problem. Included in the package you purchased is free support for one month, for a maximum of 3 hours of work, after the completion of the website. This includes all questions and small adjustments. If your changes require more time I will provide additional support at the cost of 40.- Euros per hour.
6th step - Updates
There are 3 options for additional updates after the 1 month support period:
1) You do them by yourself. The Content-Management-System (CMS) Joomla! allows you to do updates through the web interface. I will give you the necessary instructions on how to use Joomla! effectively.
2) You ask me to do the additional updates. I will charge 40.- Euros per hour.
3) A mix of options 1) and 2).
